Darius’s First Day of School

Darius had his first day of school at the Billings Academy for Gifted Children. The day’s activities included exercise, studying Days 1–3 of creation from Genesis 1, learning the days of the week (in English, but also some Spanish), counting to thirty, writing capital and lowercase A, and drawing/coloring an ambulance (also known as a “doctor truck” in our house).

We started going through reading lessons with him about a month and a half ago, and he is making great progress. That made for a nice, soft entry into the schooling process. We are also going to try out the Telling God’s Story curriculum developed from the Peter Enns book of the same name.

Our whole family is excited about the flexibility of learning this way, and it’s so much fun to see how joyfully Darius shares everything he learns. There will surely be more to come in the weeks and years ahead.
